This highly collectible 37mm copper medal was struck in 1739 to celebrate Admiral Vernon’s capture of Porto Bello with just 6 ships! There are many versions of this sought after medal, and this piece comes with vintage collector’s handwritten ticket.
Obverse: full-length figure of Admiral Vernon facing to right, with baton, canon and ship sailing to the right.
Lettering: THE BRITISH GLORY REVIV D BY ADMIRAL VERNON
Reverse: six ships in harbour in front of bay of Portobello, Panama, battle date below: Nov 22, 1739
